Everest Khumbu - Gokyo Trek
Itinerary (25 days)
Day 01: Kathmandu to Jiri.(120 km). The Everest Trek begins with a road journey from Kathmandu to Jiri. (120 km)
Day 02: Jiri to Samburdhanda (9 Km). The first day of the Everest Trek begins with a pattern that will become familiar over the next few days, a climb to a high pass and then a descent to a river.
Day 03: Samburdhanda to Bhandar (4 km). Today on the Everest Trek you will cross the Deorali La and begin the descent to the Linkhu Khola.
Day 04: Bhandar to Sete (10 Km). The Everest Trek continues down to the Linkhu Khola and begins the climb to the Lamjura La pass.
Day 05: Sete to Junbesi (10km). The Everest Trek continues over the Lamjura La at an altitude of 3,571 metres - today is one of the biggest day's on the Everest Trek.
Day 06: Junbesi to Everest View (3 km). Today is a short trek, just far enough to get your first view of Mount Everest.
Day 07: Everest View to Nuntala (9 km). The Everest Trek crosses the Trakshindo La pass and begins the descent to the Dudh Kosi.
Day 08: Nuntala to Khari Khola (6 km ). Today, the Everest Trek descends to the Dudh Losi and then finaly swings north towards Namche and Mount Everest
Day 09: Khari Khola to Paiya (7 km ) Today's trek climbs the picturesque Khari La pass to Paiya.
Day 10: Paiya to Lukla (6 km) Today, the Everest Trek culminates in the dubious delights of Lukla.
Day 11: Lukla to Thakding (6.5 km ). The Everest Trek steadily improves today with each step you take away from Lukla.
Day 12: Thakding to Namche (8 km ). Today's trek continues north up river to finally reach Namche Bazar, the trekking capital of Khumbu.
Day 13: Namche to Mong La (2.5 km). The Everest Trek reaches 4,000 metres for the first time at the mysterious and ancient village of Mong La.
Day 14: Mong La to Dole (6.5 km ). Today's trek follows the valley side along the traditional yak trail.
Day 15: Dole to Machermo (4 km) The Everest Trek climbs 400 metres north along the trail towards Gokyo.
Day 16: Machermo to Gokyo (6 km). Today's trek climbs steeply to reach the Gokyo Glacier and its lakes.
Day 17: Gokyo to Dragnag (4 km). Today's trek provides a dramatic change of trekking scenery as you cross the Gokyo Glacier.
Day 18: Dragnag to Phortse (11 km). The trek follows the valley south along its eastern side which is less impacted by tourism, and finishes at Phortse, thought to be the oldest village in Khumbu.
Day 19: Phortse to Pangboche (3.5 km). Today the Everest Trek heads north to Pangboche a village with great views and good food.
Day 20: Pangboche to Thugla (9 km). The Everest Trek leaves the luxury of Pangboche for the more primitive accomodation at the snout of the Khumbu Glacier.
Day 21: Thugla to Gorak Shep (7 km). The Everest Trek passes through possibly the most beautiful Himalayan landscape that exists.
Day 22: Gorak Shep to Pheriche (10 km) Climb Kalla Pattar, to get the view of Mount Everest and then return the way you came, pausing from time to time to admire the view.
Day 23: Pheriche to Tengboche (8.5 km). Today's trek takes you to Tengboche Monastery, which has, arguably, the best mountain views in the world.
Day 24: Tengboche to Namche (7 km). Today's trek follows and excellent path down to the Dudh Kosi and back up to Namche.
Day 25: Namche to Lukla (14.5 km). It's a long way from Namche to Lukla, but by now you should be fit enough to do it comfortably.
